Our Department

    
     Reno Fire Department was established in 1888 and its members proudly serve to this day. Our metropolitan, rural and interface footprint for the city of Reno is approximately 106 square miles servicing approximately 245,255 residents. In 2016 Reno Fire Department ran over 37,000 calls for service.

Our department is comprised of:
• 237 Line Suppression Personnel
• 3 Safety and Training Officers
• 6 Battalion Chiefs
• 5 Division Chiefs
• Fire Marshall
• 12 Prevention Personnel
• 4 Mechanics
• Fire Chief
• Numerous Support Personnel

     RFD is responsible for providing EMS at the Paramedic, EMT-Advanced and EMT-Basic level in conjunction with a private ambulance service. We also provide Technical Rescue (High-Angle, Confined Space), Swift Water Rescue and Hazardous Material Response
    We are housed in 14 fire stations responding 12 engines, 2 ladder trucks, 2 rescues and 1 squad. We also cross-staff and respond 8 brush rigs. Reno Fire also responds on an as needed basis, 3 hazmat support vehicles, 1 technical rescue support vehicle and 2 water entry support vehicles.
